If you're looking for a homebirth midwife in San Mateo, Santa Clara or Alameda Counties, I'm happy to send you detailed information about my services.  Please let me know your due date, where you live, whether this is a first or subsequent baby, and what kind of insurance you have, so I can send you the relevant financial information.  My e-mail username is ronnie, and my domain is gentlebirth.org.  Of course, you need to put an @ sign between those two to make it work.  I'm making this somewhat cryptic because I've discovered that having my e-mail address on the web has made me the target for hundreds of spam messages a day.  So, I also have multiple layers of spam filtering built into my e-mail system.

If you have a legitimate reason to contact me and need to make sure your e-mail gets through my spam filters, just make sure that you put at least one of my keywords in the e-mail header.  My keywords are related to the legitimate reasons why you might want to contact me - because I'm a midwife attending homebirth and a doula assisting women planning a hospital birth.  If I don't respond to your e-mail within a day, please do leave a phone message at 650-961-9728 so I can look through my spam-filtered messages to find yours.

Getting Answers to Your Personal Health Questions

I always encourage people to get answers about their personal health questions from their personal healthcare providers.  The information contained in these web pages is general information and cannot possibly be tailored to your personal health situation.  Only someone who knows your full medical history can make critical recommendations about your health.

However, if you are looking for general information and are having trouble finding it, you can:

  1. Search for Local Resources
  2. Search the Midwife Archives hierarchically, read some of my other writing, or look for an article that I have formatted for another author
  3. Do a text search for this web site
  4. Search other online health resources
  5. Get a second opinion - No! not from me!  I am not available for hire or for free to provide any kind of research assistance or healthcare recommendations over the phone or over the internet.  I do still receive numerous phone calls and e-mails, and it feels rude to ignore them, but it also feels rude to call you just to tell you that I really meant it.  If you're not happy with the care you're getting from your primary maternity healthcare provider, then you need to find another local maternity healthcare provider who can meet with you in person to provide this assistance.  If you're in an HMO, your plan should provide a mechanism for getting a second opinion.  If you're not in an HMO, then you could look for a local midwife.
  6. If you can make an appointment to come to my office in Mountain View, CA, I do offer informational office consultations for $75/hour; this is a non-clinical appointment and I will not do any physical examinations.  I also offer second-opinion clinical consultations for $175/hour.  To make an appointment, please leave a message at 650-961-9728 or send me e-mail describing your situation and the reason you would like a second-opinion consultation with me.  I regret that I do not have time to respond to the many requests for free assistance that I receive each week.
